We are sad to
bid farewell to Avalon Snell, but happy that she will be continuing to
work in the field of Libraries and Museums with wonderful colleagues and
friends at the Utah State Archives!
Avalon has
worked in her position as Metadata Assistant at the Mountain West
Digital Library for a little over a year, where she did an excellent job
auditing incoming metadata from various MWDL partner
collections before the data was submitted for final ingest. At MWDL,
Avalon was responsible for maintaining the organization’s social media
accounts, conducting outreach, and implementing quality assurance
workflows pertaining to collection partner metadata
harvest procedures. Avalon has also worked on a project to prepare
resources for K-12 primary source integration into curriculum for
educators of K-12 schools.
Avalon enjoys
learning about conservation techniques in libraries and museums and has
spent some time volunteering at the Marriott Library’s Preservation
& Binding Department and also at the Utah State
Archives.
Avalon recently
earned her Master of Library and Information Science degree from Wayne
State University, and will be putting the degree to good use by working
in her new position as an Archival Technician in the Digital Archives
department at the Utah State Archives.
The MWDL staff thank Avalon for all her great work at MWDL and wish her the very best in this next phase of her life!
